Dallas Right Now: November Events We Love

IMG-20120427-00523 (2)November is the perfect time to be thankful and grateful for our many blessings and remember we need to cherish the simple pleasures of life and love. We at Corps Team Dallas have a lot to be thankful for this year!

Here are some of our favorite things we love about Dallas in November:

Lantern Fest – At The Lantern Fest, thousands of revelers join together armed with lanterns for one unforgettable spectacle. Before sundown friends and families can enjoy food, live music, a stage show, familiar princesses, face painters, s’mores, balloon artists and more. Then, when the time is just right, we will light the sky with our highest hopes and fondest dreams. Lanterns fly when the sun goes down. Saturday, November 11 at 1 p.m.

Lakewood Home Festival – The Lakewood Home Festival began in 1976 when the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA staged a tour showcasing five distinctive and historic neighborhood homes as a fundraiser to purchase playground equipment for kindergarten children. Last year the event exceeded fundraising expectations for Lakewood ElementaryJ.L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School. It has evolved into a series of fantastic events and activities. November 10-12.

Trinity River Run – The Trinity River Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Run happens Sunday, November 12th, 2017. The annual sunset Half Marathon and nighttime 10K and 5k bring together runners of all types to create unforgettable memories with breathtaking views. Venue opens 2p, Half Marathon start at 4 p.m.

Rescue Goat Yoga for Charity – Exercise, animals & positive people are all recommended to relieve stress, anxiety and depression. We’ll have them all! Enjoy an outdoor yoga class while the over friendly and oh so cute pygmy/dwarf goats interact with you.  All proceeds go to Co-Hosts: www.HeresYourReminder.org & Lone Star Ranch and Rescue www.lsrr.org (both 501c3 non-profits). Friday, November 17, 6:30 p.m.

Magical Winter Lights – Magical Winter Lights is a spectacular, larger-than-life festival that presents a fresh multicultural take on traditional holiday light shows. We look forward to seeing you at our 2017 – 2018 festival! The general info page provides useful information and tips to plan your trip for the largest holiday light festival in DFW. At Lone Star Park, November 17, 2017 –  January 7, 2018.

Chi Omega Christmas Market – The Chi Omega Christmas Market offers a unique one-of-a-kind shopping experience with over 180 merchants showcasing gifts for every age including holiday decor, women’s clothing and accessories, home accents, children’s clothing and toys, food gifts, and much more! In its 40 year history, Chi Omega Christmas Market has distributed over $7.76 million dollars to the Dallas community through grants to local charities and collegiate scholarships. November 15-18, Centennial Hall at Fair Park.

Trains at Northpark – For the past 30 years, the Trains at NorthPark benefiting Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD), has delighted generations of Dallas families as one of our city’s premier holiday traditions.  Since 1987, the Trains have raised more than $13 million for RMHD allowing us to serve more than 37,000 families. 10:00 am – 9:00 pm Daily between November 18 and January 7.

Team USA Winterfest Presented by Hershey’s – The Team USA WinterFest presented by HERSHEY’S is a multi-stop festival crisscrossing the country – and making a stop in Seoul – to bring the energy and excitement of the Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 to Team USA fans around the globe. The tour will feature athlete meet and greets, interactive experiences and more. New this year will be the HERSHEY’S S’moresmobile along with the Bobsled Boomerang presented by HERSHEY’S. November 18th, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Klyde Warren Park.

Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker – Seeing Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is a Christmas tradition for families since the first North American tour in 1993! Moscow Ballet’s Christmas production of the Great Russian Nutcracker will be in Dallas at SMU’s McFarlin Auditorium Saturday, November 18, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 19 at 1 p.m. “Knock-out…real beauty…good, precise dancing,”  New York Times.

Turkey Trot – The YMCA celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Turkey Trot! A tradition since 1967, the Trot has taken over the Dallas area and provided a fun morning for families on Thanksgiving Day. By 1979, the race became so popular that it was relocated to downtown Dallas to showcase the big city. Since then the race has brought people in from all over the world. The Trot includes the choice of an eight-mile distance and a 5k Fun Run/Walk. Even if you’re not a runner, there are still fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. November 23rd, 9 a.m.

Grand Tree Lighting Celebrations at Galleria Dallas – Visit Galleria Dallas and its iconic 95-foot Christmas tree and take in the weekly tree lighting celebrations. Every show features Missile Toes, Galleria’s back-flipping, pyrotechnic, ice-skating Santa. This year, Galleria Dallas will play host to an amazing array of national and international skating luminaries, including 2014 Olympic Champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White, 1994 World Champion Yuka Sato, Junior Pairs Champions Audrey Lu and Misha Mitrofanov, 2017 US National Dance Champions Maia & Alex Shibutani and 2011 US Mens National Champion Ryan Bradley.

Enchant: The World’s Largest Christmas Light Maze & Market – A world of Christmas wonder awaits as Enchant, The World’s Largest Christmas Light Maze & Market makes its U.S debut at Globe Life Park in Arlington, November 24 – December 31, 2017. Surrounded by millions of dazzling lights, the memories you make will last well beyond the holiday season. Get lost in the world’s largest light maze. Take photos around the largest Christmas tree in North Texas. Glide around the ice-skating pond or waltz through the Enchant Christmas Market with over 85 vendors, including an Arlington favorite Texas Christkindle Market Lane, now a part of the Enchant experience.
