Spring has sprung! In April it’s not only about the beautiful weather, it’s also about art, film, sports, food and fun.
Big D Reads, through April 25 – Every April, Big D Reads asks the city to open the same book and participate in a cool shared experience. This year, it’s Charles Portis’ True Grit. Take part in discussions, movie screenings, comedy shows, crafts and more. It all culminates with an outdoor festival at Klyde Warren Park on April 25.
Jazz in the Atrium at the DMA, Thursdays through April 30 – In celebration of Dallas Jazz Appreciation Month, enjoy live jazz music and treat yourself to dinner and drinks in the DMA Café.
2015 Dallas Art Fair, April 9 through 12 – the 2015 Dallas Art Fair will feature over 90 prominent national and international art dealers and galleries exhibiting painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, video, and installation by modern and contemporary artists.
MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival, April 9 through 12 – The largest arts festival in Texas returns to Downtown Fort Worth spanning more than 27 blocks showcasing 215 hand-selected juried artists across 15 mediums including ceramics, jewelry, mixed-media, printmaking, digital, fiber, leather, painting, sculpture, drawing/pastels, glass, metalwork, photography and wood. The event is also billed as Fort Worth’s largest, free music festival and features more than 100 local, regional and national musicians performing on three stages throughout its four days.
Dallas International Film Festival, April 9 through 19 – The 9th annual Dallas International Film Festival, hosted by the Dallas Film Society, celebrates films and their impact on society. With 165 films featured this year, North Texans will get a chance to catch up on some of the movies that have been generating buzz at Sundance and South by Southwest, as well as a total of 17 world, North American and U.S. premieres.
Cool Thursdays Concert Series at the Dallas Arboretum, Thursdays through July 2 – The city’s favorite concert series is back! Enjoy great music from Asleep at the Wheel, Rocket Man, Blaze of Glory and many other popular performers. The concert series takes place on the award-winning Martin Rutchik Concert Lawn and overlooks the picturesque White Rock Lake. Bring a picnic and beverages or purchase food from local food trucks. It doesn’t get much better!
Walk MS: Dallas 2015, April 11 – This event connects people living with MS and others committed to creating a world free of multiple sclerosis. When you participate in Walk MS the funds you raise give hope to the more than 2.3 million people living with MS worldwide and support life-changing programs and cutting-edge research.
Baseball: America’s Presidents, America’s Pastime, through October 4 – Explore American history through the close relationship between baseball and our Presidents at the George W. Bush Library and Museum. Baseball’s relationship with America’s presidents is almost as old as the game itself. This exhibit showcases how baseball has mirrored trends in our larger society. At various points, the sport has personified America’s racial, economic, and national struggles. During good times and bad, presidents have connected with this uniquely American sport.

Earth Day Texas, April 24 through 26 – Earth Day Texas is the largest annual public green exhibition in the world. The outdoor festival seeks to elevate environmental awareness and influence the way Texans think, live and work. The family-friendly and free-admission event allows leaders in the corporate, academic and non-profit worlds to unite and show Texans how green lifestyle choices can lower their cost of living, improve their health and help save the environment.
