Dallas Right Now

I know what you’re thinking:  “What could you love about Dallas in August, especially when it’s predicted to be up to 109 this week!”  Well, we still have plenty to love in Dallas, even in August  . . .

Dallas Cityscape — This annual exhibit features enormous re-creations of the Dallas skyline, all made from toys!  You’ll be amazed, and your children can play there too!  This wonderful exibit also benefits East Dallas Community schools, where 94% of their alumni graduate from high school and 88% attend college. Now through August 28th at the Museum of Nature and Science!

Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus — that’s right, when the going gets hot, Texans get smart and go inside!  Join Ringling Bros. at the Fort Worth Convention Center for cool family fun August 10 – 14th!

KRLD Restaurant Week, August 15 – 21 — Enjoy fine dining at a great price, and at the same time support two worthwhile local charities!  For each $35 meal purchased that week,  participating restaurants will donate $7 to either the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas or the Lena Pope Home in Fort Worth.  Click here to see a full listing of the 125 participating restaurants, and call to make reservations.  For $35, you receive a delicious three-course meal, and the feeling of doing something good!  A winning combination for a fabulous evening!

Tax-Free Weekend! — Mark your calendars for August 19 – 21, and take your kids back to school shopping for their clothes and school supplies!  You save $8 on every $100 spent, and every dollar counts!

Great Wolf Lodge — Indoor water park.  Need I say more?  OK:  no sunscreen + no sunburn + no heat + 80,000 square foot water park =  happy kids = happy parents!

Ice Skating at the Galleria and Stonebriar Mall — Another great way to beat the heat!  Maybe you can combine your shopping during tax-free weekend with some cool fun!

Well, there you have it, some of the best ways to enjoy Dallas in August! Key is to stay indoors as much as possible, so what we love about Dallas in August is air conditioning! Other suggestions? We’d love to hear them!
